A recent article by Patricia Inácio, PhD featured in the PD Frontline Summer 2026 newsletter highlights encouraging new research into the benefits of table tennis for people living with Parkinson’s.
Researchers found that taking part in a structured 12-week table tennis programme improved balance, walking distance and general movement. Participants also reported a reduction in depressive symptoms by the end of the programme.
While this was a small pilot study and larger trials are still needed, the findings add to the growing body of evidence showing that table tennis can play an important role in helping people with Parkinson’s stay active and improve their quality of life.
