One of the founders of Parkinson’s England Table Tennis (PETT) and our Secretary, Gary Lee, has been using the power of table tennis to support people living with Parkinson’s for many years.
Back in 2023, Gary spoke to Essex Live about his own Parkinson’s journey, from the first signs of the condition to discovering how table tennis transformed not only his own wellbeing but also inspired him to help others. His story led to the creation of the Bat & Chat sessions at Myplace in Harold Hill, which continue to go from strength to strength today, providing a welcoming place where people can play, socialise and support one another.
Gary’s experience is a powerful reminder that while Parkinson’s changes lives, staying active, connecting with others and finding a supportive community can make a real difference.
