Leeds ParkyPING!

Leeds ParkyPING! was founded in 2023. Members meet every first and third Monday of the month and every second and fourth Tuesday, at a community centre in Kirkstall, Leeds.

Some of the sessions are run by professional coaches, one of whom has Parkinson’s himself. As well as free play, there is sometimes a robot available, and sessions can also include a variety of table tennis activities.

ParkyPING! has members across the range from complete beginners to experienced competitors. It now has a successful Parkinson’s-only team in the Leeds Table Tennis League, through a partnership with local Community Table Tennis Club. Several members have now played in tournaments, in England and internationally.

Members contribute to the sessions on a ‘Pay as you feel’ basis. ParkyPING! is entirely volunteer-led and organised
